Farm bill full of goodies for both rich and poor

WASHINGTON — A $300 billion farm bill contains a little something for everyone, including tax breaks for Kentucky racehorse owners, extra help for farmers in Hawaii and Alaska, dollars for salmon farmers in the Pacific Northwest and more food stamps for the needy.

CONSERVATION organisations WWF and Greenpeace have taken their concerns over pirate fishing to the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT).

Lobster float rope to be collected again in May

The Gulf of Maine Lobster Foundation held two of three scheduled groundline exchanges this spring. This month the program has registered more than 180 lobstermen who will bring roughly 230,000 pounds of float rope to the third exchange, held May 20-22 in Scarborough, Maine.

Lobstermen who want to exchange rope must pre-register by contacting the foundation.
